Samuel Pantcheff

British baritone Samuel Pantcheff studied at the Royal Academy of Music, where he won the Blythe-Buesst Opera Prize in his first year. Most recently, he appeared as Ibn Hakia in Tchaikovsky's "Iolanta" at the Salzburg State Theatre. In the current season, he returns to Salzburg to take on the role of Miles in the eagerly awaited Austrian premiere of Stuart MacRae's "Anthropocene". As a member of the ensemble at the Salzburg State Theatre, he has played roles such as Harlequin in "Ariadne auf Naxos", Papageno in "Die Zauberflöte", Valentin in "Faust", Sherasmin in "Oberon" and Joseph Pitt in "Angels in America" by Péter Eötvös. At other venues, he has appeared as Prince Yamadori in "Madama Butterfly", Haly in "L'italiana in Algeri" (Diva Opera); Juan in "Juliana" (Nova Music Opera); Onegin in "Eugene Onegin" (OperaUpClose); Leporello in "Don Giovanni" (Head First Productions); Lumaca in "La scuola de gelosi" (Bampton Classical Opera); Sharpless in "Madam Butterfly" (King's Head Theatre); The King in "Eight Songs for a Mad King" (St Petersburg Philharmonic); Papageno in "The Magic Flute" (Pavilion Opera); Guglielmo in "Così fan tutte" (Pop-Up Opera); The Younger Gentleman in "Exposition of a Picture" (Buxton International Festival); Aeneas in "Dido and Aeneas" (RAO); Fiorello in "Il barbiere di Siviglia" (Cadogan Hall); and L'horloge comtoise/Le chat in "L'enfant et les sortileges" (BBC Symphony Orchestra).
