The director and set designer Ran Chai Bar-zvi was born in Jerusalem in 1989 and is a graduate of the Jerusalem High School of Arts. In 2012, he moved to Berlin and began his studies in costume and set design at the Berlin Weissensee School of Art, which he completed with a diploma in 2019. As a set and costume designer, he has worked for various theaters and organizations, including the Munich Volkstheater, Rimini Protokoll, Ruhrtriennale, Schauspiel Köln, Schauspiel Hannover, and Staatstheater Stuttgart. His video works with artists Doireann O'Malley and Michael Portnoy have been exhibited at the Hugh Lane Gallery in Dublin and the Steirischer Herbst Festival. In 2019, he made his directorial debut with »DARK ROOM« at Schauspiel Hannover, followed by the production of the novel »Das wirkliche Leben« also at Schauspiel Hannover. In the 23.24 season, he will be directing productions at the Munich Volkstheater, Schauspiel Hannover, Staatstheater Mainz, and Theater Aachen.
