Born in Mexico, the tenor Ángel Macías studied at the Escuela de Música y Danza de Monterrey. He attended master classes with Arturo Chacón, Eytan Pessen, Ramón Vargas and Javier Camarena, among others. He made his debut in Mexico in 2015. In 2021 he sang the role of Ulises in the Mexican opera Salsipuedos at the Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City. Ángel Macías has been a participant in several opera festivals including the 2021 Salzburg Festival Young Singers Project. He won the first prize of the Opera de San Miguel in 2019, became a finalist at the Nuits Lyriques de Marmande, France. From season 20.21 to season 22.23, Macías was a member of the Opera Studio of the Stuttgart State Opera, where he took on numerous roles, including the Jäger in »Rusalka«, Flavio in »Norma«, and Fenton in »Falstaff«. He is an ensemble member at Theater Aachen since the 23.24 season.
During the 24.25 season, he sang the roles of Pluton in »Orphée aux enfers« and Tamino in »Die Zauberflöte«. He can be seen in several productions during the current season, including as Lenski in »Eugene Onegin« and Nemorino in »L’elisir d’amore«.
