Marco Štorman is a directing graduate of the Otto Falckenberg School in Munich. This was followed by productions at the Thalia Theater in Hamburg, the Schauspiel Hannover and the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus, among others. His work is always on the borderline between drama and music theatre and explores the boundary between stage and auditorium. Thus, under the motto »Our theatre is the city« , he founded the independent group Kulturfiliale to assert the urban space and its inhabitants as a theatrical context. Invitations to Australia and awards with various prizes as well as funding in the Fonds Doppelpass of the Bundeskulturstiftung. In 2014 he travels to Japan at the invitation of the Seiryu Theatre. In 2021 he creates the digital opera performance »Glaube, Liebe, Hoffnung« (Faith, Love, Hope) for the Staatsoper Stuttgart. His freely financed film »Juliaugust« premieres in 2012 at the Hof Film Festival by invitation and wins the best medium-length film and the audience award at the 9th berlin film awards. His production of Elfriede Jelinek's »Winterreise« was invited to the festival Radikal Jung. In 2011 Marco Štorman was part of the Enparts Open Campus of the Venice Biennale in Stockholm, in 2009 he was a scholarship holder of the International Forum of the Berliner Festspiele as well as of the Salzburg Festival 2003. In the seasons 16.17 and 17.18 he was house director at the Lucerne Theatre. He has an intensive and continuous collaboration with the Bremen Theatre and the Staatsoper Stuttgart. Important works for the Komische Oper Berlin, the Biennale for Contemporary Music in Munich, the Schauspielhaus Vienna, Staatsschauspiel Dresden, Staatstheater Kassel and Staatstheater Nuremberg, among others.
