Born in Berlin in 1983, Luise Berndt studied acting at the »Konrad Wolf« Academy of Film and Television in Potsdam-Babelsberg from 2004 to 2008. She already acted in cinema and television productions during her training. In 2007 she was cast by Frank Castorf at the Volksbühne Berlin for a role in the play »Emil und die Detektive« and has since appeared in other productions there. For her portrayal of a deaf woman in director Ann-Kristin Reyels' debut film, »Jagdhunde« (Hunting Dogs), she won the First Steps Award and was pre-nominated for the German Film Award. Since 2008 she has appeared in various film and television productions, including »Tatort« or the feature film »Die Wolken von Sils Maria« and worked in radio. As of the 23.24 season, Luise Berndt is a permanent ensemble member at the Theater Aachen.

Why do you make theatre?

I am attracted to theatre because it is a free place, an intro- and extrospective place, a curious place, a place of imagination and craft, a place of social exchange, a laboratory of thought.

What kind of future do you dream of?

My dream future is greener, more inclusive and more equal - up and down.
