Laurent Chétouane

The director Laurent Chétouane, born in France, has been staging texts from the classical and modern repertoire at major German stages and theaters throughout Europe since 2001, following a diploma in chemical engineering, a bachelor's degree in theater studies at the Sorbonne in Paris, and studies in theater directing in Frankfurt. In Germany, productions of his have been seen at the Deutsches Schauspielhaus in Hamburg, Schauspiel Köln, Schauspiel Stuttgart and DNT Weimar, among others. Since 2006, he has also choreographed numerous dance pieces that reexamine the relationship between body and movement. Chétouane is a guest lecturer and visiting professor at European artistic universities. In 2008, he received the Förderpreis des Landes Nordrhein-Westfalen for outstanding young artists.
