The director and author Katharina Grosch was born in 1992 in Kösching near Ingolstadt near Munich. She studied historical linguistics at the Humboldt University in Berlin, but was primarily a member of the youth theater P14 at the Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz. From 2017 to 2021, she studied acting direction at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hamburg and completed a guest audition in scenic writing at the Universität der Künste Berlin. In January 2021 she performed her final production »Des Pudels Kern« at Kampnagel in Hamburg. Her work is characterized by humorous discourse that derives from philosophical theory in both its form and content. She describes this process as »pataphysical« and likes to place herself in the tradition of OULIPO. In September 2023, »The Long Way to Knowledge« will premiere at the Staatstheater Saarbrücken.

Why do you make theater?
Because I think most texts need to be spoken and echo in a large space in order for them to become literature. And because I don't want to be an automotive mechatronics engineer.

Who would you like to have dinner with?
Any plans for tonight?

What profession would you have in a parallel universe?
Automotive mechatronics engineer.
