Baritone Jorge Ruvalcaba received his vocal training at the Escuela Superior de Música in Mexico and completed his master's degree and concert exam in vocal performance at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music in 2020.

From 2020 to 2023, he was a member of the International Opera Studio at the Stuttgart State Opera, where he appeared as Albert (»Werther«), Moralès (»Carmen«), Prinz Yamadori (»Madama Butterfly«), Herr Eiler (»Der Schauspieldirektor«) sowie Fiorello (»Il barbiere di Siviglia«) among others. Since the 2023.24 season, Jorge Ruvalcaba has been a permanent member of the music theater ensemble at Theater Aachen. There he has sung Marcello (»La Bohème«), Papageno (»Die Zauberflöte«), Jupiter (»Orphée aux enfers«), Dancaïre (»Carmen«) sowie Don Álvaro (»Il viaggio a Reims«) among others . This season, he can also be seen as Onegin in »Eugene Onegin« and as Belcore in »L'elisir d'amore«.

His repertoire also includes roles such as Figaro (»Il barbiere di Siviglia«), Germano (»La scala di seta«), Julián (»La verbena de la Paloma«, zarzuela), and parts in musicals, including Anthony Hope (»Sweeney Todd«) and Bernardo (»West Side Story«).

Why do you do theatre?
Because it allows me to dive into different worlds and characters where I can understand life from a different perspective.

What kind of future do you dream of?
A world of justice, where every individual is consistently treated with respect, as equals. A future where governments prioritise quality education, promoting social development and progress.

What is your favourite place in Aachen?
The Aachen Cathedral.

What profession would you pursue in a parallel universe?
Bio-engineer.
