Jonathan Macker

Hamburg-born bass-baritone Jonathan Macker completed his Bachelor's degree at the HfMDK Frankfurt under Prof. Thilo Dahlmann and continued his studies in the Master's programme at the HMDK Stuttgart Opera School. Masterclasses with Helmut Deutsch, Franz Hawlata, Brigitte Fassbaender and Petra Lang rounded off his studies. In 2019, he made his debut as Didi in the world premiere of Sehyung Kim's opera "Consumnia" in Graz. In Switzerland, Jonathan Macker was engaged by the Biel Solothurn Theatre Orchestra for the 21.22 season. Here he sang the role of Lorenzo in the production of "I Capuleti e i Montecchi" and took part in the world premiere of "Eiger" (composition: Fabian Müller, libretto: Tim Krohn) in the role of Willy Angerer. In 2022, he sang Starvling in a Frankfurt Opera production of Benjamin Britten's "Midsummer Nights Dream" directed by Brigitte Fassbaender and was heard in the productions of "Capriccio" by Richard Strauss and the opera Der ferne Klang by Franz Schreker in the following season.

In the 23.24 season, he will make his debut at Theater Aachen in the roles of Colline in Puccini's "La Bohème", as Lord Sydney in Rossini's "Il viaggio a Reims" and as Allazim in "Zaïde / Adama".
